| Main Street Speed Camera, Wray. Guide to the Sacrecrow Village of Wray, Lancashire, England. |
||
| Wray Village - The Original Scarecrow Festival 22nd April - 1st May 2006. Wray Fair - Mayday 1st May 2006, Wray, Lancaster. The theme for the 2006 Scarecrow Festival was the 2006 Football World Cup, with different areas of the village producing scarecrows fitting a theme from different parts of the world where countries or continents are involved in the soccer competition.
Dont be surprised to see a Mexican Wave or a Croatian Crow on your tour of the village, plus old favourites such as the unique GIANT SCARECROWS, the Speed Cam Cop and of course a collection of traditional scarecrows throughout the village. See if you can spot the Seagulls on the railings of Wray Endowed School - very creative use of a carrier bag, a few twists and some sticky vinyl!
WRAY FAIR - The original Wray Fair was mentioned in the Lancaster Gazette as far back as 1838, when it was descibed as ending in 'wanton brutality!' Happily things are a sight more friendly now, and this years fair saw crowds enjoying the day with great memories and a happy smile to take home, rather than a black eye!
